To make the most of your time at the saturday sprints, you should get your computer set up for working on Drupal 8 before the conference. You will need an environment set up with a web server, MySQL 5.1 (or newer) or PostgreSQL 8.3 (or newer) and PHP 5.4.5 (or newer).
The easiest way to do that is to install the Drupal Community Tools. We'll help you install these at the sprint, but you should download them beforehand, so we don't need to wait whilst a hundred sprinters overload the conference WiFi :-)
There are downloads links for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows on the Drupal Community Tools page.
A lot of Drupalers communicate via IRC, so you should probably download and install an IRC client as well. The Drupal IRC page tells you what it is and how to get it working.
Our conference channel is #drupalsouth and Aussies and Kiwis hang out on #drupal-au and #drupal-nz.
